For the Twelfth beer of Christmas...

I know, I know, I'm like that asshole neighbor across the cul-de-sac who still thinks it's acceptable to turn his Christmas lights on...

What can I say. I still have a little holiday cheer left to spread and-God-Damn it-I'm gonna spread it!

For the 12th beer of Christmas I'm going to hand over the reigns to Mark, the original BrewsTraveller.

So, without further ado, please enjoy his take on Home for the Holidays:

Being in Arizona I'm partial to the west coast breweries. Mainly because I like their aggressive style and hoppy attitude, but also because we just don't get too many breweries shipping their beer out here. However, when I do find an east coast brewery willing to try and penetrate this market I jump at the chance to at least give them a try. This led me to Home for the Holidays from High & Mighty Beer Co. in Holyoke Massachusetts.

Home for the Holidays is classified as an oak aged winter brown ale. This
beer definitely has a holiday feel to it. It has a nutty flavor with the toasted malt really coming through. It's also a little bit sweet with a hint of dark fruit. It has 7.2% alcohol but you don't notice. It's the type of
beer that you can cozy up to next to the fire place.

All in all I felt this wasn't a great beer but it's worth try ing if you're looking for something like a toastier Fat Tire. The toasted malt flavor was just too overpowering. The best thing I can say about this beer is that a portion of the proceeds go to support veterans organizations in Iraq and Afghanistan. If only the beer was as good as the cause it supports.
Thanks for the review Mark.
